One Shot Dead At APC Secretariat In Rivers State, Others Injured

At least one person was shot dead and many injured after pandemonium broke out today at the Rivers State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.

The chaos happened after protestors went violent and destroyed properties at the secretariat.

It was gathered that armed policemen and other security operatives fired live bullets as they were mobilized to the area after some protesters became violent and vandalized the APC office.

Earlier, the leadership of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State, had denied claims by a section of the party that materials for the local government congresses have been hijacked.

The APC spokesman said the delegation from Abuja had their flight delayed, hence the exercise was rescheduled for later in the day.

However, the protesters, who were led by the State Deputy Chairman APC, Peter Odike, alleged that, “Some of their intending delegates had been deliberately deprived of the forms to participate in the congresses tomorrow.”

The APC protesters complained that the State Chairman and other officials were not at the secretariat to attend to them, less than twenty-four hours to the congresses.

Atiku Condemn Killings In Rivers, Kaduna & Benue

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday condemned recent killings in Rivers, Kaduna, Benue and other parts of the country, including the Wednesday early morning suicide bomb attack at Gamboru Mosque in Borno.
The ex-vice president’s stance is in a statement by his Media Office in Abuja.

The office stated that Abubakar described the killings as “ungodly”, adding that “the senseless killings and reprisal blood-letting are unacceptable.”

He also described such killings as throwback to stone age, and a hindrance to the promotion of peace and unity in the country.

Abubakar stressed that the diversity of Nigeria remained one of its strongest points.

He advised leaders at all levels to “promote the things that unite Nigerians rather than those that create divisions.

“That the Almighty in His Wisdom made us a nation of different tongues and tribes; made us Africa’s most populous nation with more than 300 tribes is no accident.

“If well harnessed, our diversity should be our biggest strength.

“There cannot be development when innocent lives are being lost in a seeming endless cycle of attacks and reprisals.

“While we should hold every life as precious, it is more painful that the victims of these attacks are women and youths – the demography that we depend upon to drive development.”

The former vice president urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of the New Year to reflect on the needless killings and to live in peace and harmony.

He prayed that God would comfort the bereaved families.

Crocodile Smile ll: Army Dismiss Rumour Of Forced Vaccination In Rivers Schools

**Says Medical Outreaches will proceed only with consent of communities.
By: Kingsley Omonobi-Abuja
The Nigerian Army said on Tuesday that its Special Security and Training Exercise for the South-South and South West code-named ‘Operation Crocodile Smile 2’ will only proceed with its free medical outreaches segment to designated communities only after the consent of relevant authorities have been given.
The Army noted that designated venues and dates for such medical outreaches will be duly communicated to the general public through press releases and relevant posters.
Speaking against the backdrop of rumours flying around that persons dressed in Army uniforms were going about primary and secondary schools and forcefully vaccinating children with purpose of injecting them with unknown diseases, the army noted that even the segment of carrying out medical outreaches, was yet to commence in the areas involved.
A statement signed by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col Aminu Iliyasu said, “The attention of Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army has been drawn to some rumours making the rounds that some Nigerian Army Personnel are going round schools in Rivers State dressed in Military Camouflage uniforms with the intention of forcefully vaccinating students with an unknown substance”.
“The callous and unpatriotic rumours spread by these enemies of State are, to say the least, despicable, deplorable and highly condemnable by all well-meaning Nigerians as they are intended to cause pandemonium among the general public”.
“The authorities of 6 Division Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general public that while the Nigerian Army plans to undertake such gestures like free medical outreaches, sanitation exercises in host communities and distribution of educational materials as part of our community relations activities during the ongoing Operation Crocodile Smile II, these activities are yet to be conducted”.
“It will eventually be conducted with the consent of relevant authorities of designated communities and at venues and dates that will be duly communicated to the general public through future press releases and relevant posters.
Ilyasu added, “For the purpose of emphasis, the Nigerian Army does not and will never carry out its medical outreaches or vaccination exercises for that matter in Schools”.
“We can therefore categorically inform the public that the ongoing rumours about Nigerian Army Personnel going round schools in military camouflage to forcefully immunize school children are not true and should therefore be discountenanced with”.
“Additionally, members of the public are please requested to call 09072509436-8 to report any case of any impostor(s) that may be seen actually trying to commit such atrocities.”

‘Power Outage Helped Me Escape, Hunger Led To My Re-arrest’ – Ifeanyi Dike, Suspected Ritual Killer Confesses

Ifeanyi Dike, the suspected ritualist that escaped from Police custody and was re-arrested in Plateau State, yesterday, narrated how power outage aided his escape and hunger led to his re-arrest.

He, however, pleaded for mercy on the murder of the eight-year-old girl, Chikamso Mezuwuba.

Dike, who spoke in Port Harcourt while he was re-paraded by the Rivers State Police Command, insisted that the Investigative Police Officer, IPO, Johnbosco Okoroeze, nabbed over his (Dike’s) escape was innocent.

Ifeanyi Dike killed the eight-year-old Chikamso, removed her vital organs and was on his way to dispose of her remains when he was arrested by a local vigilante group in Okporo community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The suspected ritualist had escaped from the custody of State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, but was re-arrested in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, last week, Thursday.

Dike told newsmen that he took advantage of the darkness in the premises of SCID, when he was asked to go into the cell and escaped, noting that nobody knew when he sneaked out. Dike said:

“At the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, after I entered my statement late in the evening of the day of my first parade, my IPO asked me to go inside the cell.
“That was when I had the opportunity to run away. My IPO did not help me escape. I know what I did was wrong, please forgive me and have mercy."

Dike disclosed that he was re-arrested after his successful disappearance from Port Harcourt, when he got involved in another crime in the place he had escaped to in Plateau State.

He explained that he was faced with starvation after he arrived Plateau State and in an attempt to steal food he was apprehended by residents of the area, who later handed him over to the Police. According to him:

“I escaped to Jos. Having stayed for several days without food and due to the injuries I sustained, I was unable to get food to eat. So due to the hunger, I decided to source for food and that was where I was caught and handed over to the Police.
“When I got to the Police station, at first I was hiding my identity, but on interrogation I got fed up and gave them (Police) my aunty’s phone number.
As soon as the Police called my aunty, she told them that I was declared wanted by the Rivers State Police command. She also handed my IPO’s phone number to the Police officers and they later confirmed that I am on the wanted list.
After I was confirmed, I was detained and returned back to Rivers State on Sunday.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mr. Ahmed Zaki, has described the re-arrest of Dike as an act of God, noting that providence has brought the suspect back to face justice. He said:
“Today (yesterday), with profound humility, I present to you the most wanted ritual killer, Mr. Ifeanyi Maxwell Dike. His re-arrest was made possible by God Almighty, through your numerous prayers and concerns, following his escape three weeks ago.
“I wish to assure you that justice will not only be done, but be seen to be done in the circumstance to bring the full weight of the law to bear on him and any other person implicated in the cause of further investigations.”

This is a sponsored post

In his Bid to support Rivers State Government to clean up the drainage systems, Mr King has this to say.

As Written By Mr King:
Yesterday, Mr King and friends were out again in the mega city of Port Harcourt in their bid to support the Rivers state government to clean up the  drainage systems in Port Harcourt.
Early this week, One Mr King who is based in America and also an indigene of Rumuolumeni in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State decided to mobilize about 50 able bodied youths from Port Harcourt to assist himself and his friends in cleaning up the blocked drainages in Port Harcourt.
Mr King who is a reality show producer based in the USA is not a Politician nor is he interested in running for any political office in Rivers state; but a humanitarian service focused individual who has decided to empower some Port Harcourt youths with this project.
One of the youths we spoke with stated that Mr Kings has been paying them since the cleaning started and also intimated us that the exercise has helped in reducing crime within their locality "because Mr King targetted the jobless youths for this project engagement"
Those who are on ground to support Mr King in actualizing this project are friends from USA and one of Nigeria finest socio-political blogger cum mediator, Wise Prince Ajede and #tHeDyNasty crew.
According to the originator and sponsor of the support project, the cleaning will take a period of one month and to be candid, this initiative is truly an encouragement to many Rivers indigenes and a call for voluntary services towards making Rivers state great again irrespective of our political class.
Folks, let us all join the Young team to support Rivers Government in making Port Harcourt clean again.
